Happily
By the rosebush laughing
With bruises on my chin
The time when
We counted every black car passing
Your house beneath the hill
And up until
Someone caught us in the kitchen
With maps, a mountain range,
A piggy bank
A vision too removed to mention
But
Please, remember me
Fondly
I heard from someone you're still pretty
And then
They went on to say
That the pearly gates
Had some eloquent graffiti
Like 'We'll meet again'
And 'Fuck the man'
And 'Tell my mother not to worry'
And angels with their gray
Handshakes
Were always done in such a hurry
And
Please, remember me
At Halloween
Making fools of all the neighbors
Our faces painted white
By midnight
We'd forgotten one another
And when the morning came
I was ashamed
Only now it seems so silly
That season left the world
And then returned
And now you're lit up by the city
So
Please, remember me
Mistakenly
In the window of the tallest tower call
Then pass us by
But much too high
To see the empty road at happy hour
Leave and resonate
Just like the gates
Around the holy kingdom
With words like 'Lost and Found' and 'Don't Look Down'
And 'Someone Save Temptation'
And
Please, remember me
As in the dream
We had as rug-burned babies
Among the fallen trees
And fast asleep
Aside the lions and the ladies
That called you what you like
And even might
Give a gift for your behavior
A fleeting chance to see
A trapeze
Swing as high as any savior
But
Please, remember me
My misery
And how it lost me all I wanted
Those dogs that love the rain
And chasing trains
The colored birds above there running
In circles round the well
And where it spells
On the wall behind St. Peter's
So bright with cinder gray
And spray paint
'Who the hell can see forever?'
And
Please, remember me
Seldomly
In the car behind the carnival
My hand between your knees
You turn from me
And said 'The trapeze act was wonderful
But never meant to last'
The clown that passed
Saw me just come up with anger
When it filled with circus dogs
The parking lot
Had an element of danger
So
Please, remember me
Finally
And all my uphill clawing
My dear
But if i make
The pearly gates
Do my best to make a drawing
Of G-d and Lucifer
A boy and girl
An angel kissin on a sinner
A monkey and a man
A marching band
All around the frightened trapeze swingers
I'm guessing the reason for lack of updates would have something to do with a little too much partying, preparing for spring by enjoying the sun and a general lack of motivation. A lot has been happening though. One of those things would be cooking for myself again. It's always less motivating cooking for yourself but I consider it good practice for, well, you know when.
I went on a bit of a binge of shit eating and not really looking after myself. Due to numerous aspects but the most prominent being lack of motivation in other parts of life. Having had enough of that, here's a couple of dishes I've served myself recently.
Rib Eye Steak - This was huge, a little too much for me, I couldn't finish it even after the second time. But damn, it's impressive for $8.
Avocado - I've finally found some decent avocado's here in Montréal. I've missed them for so long in sandwiches (quite common to have them as an option in .au)
Home made wedges - Work in progress, they still turned out good, but could be better.
Asparagus Wraps - Asparagus wrapped in bacon and roasted with a dlop of cheese on top (I used brie)
Mushrooms & Onions - hard to see, these were the bed for the steak. I probably won't cook these again if I were to do the same dish. I didn't eat them, if anything perhaps I'll make them into more of a sauce (something that was missing).
And for the chicken itself, the recipe is here and highly recommended.
DMST was a good concert. I wouldn't say great as I didn't find that they reached the pinnacles Explosions in the Sky or A Silver Mount Zion manage to achieve. THey played quite a few of their new tracks towards the end, I didn't think I would enjoy it but I did. The fact that they sang for the first time in 12 years is saying something.
So DMST is out of the way and to my surprise, Man Man is coming back again. They played on the 13th or 16 of March, memory fails me there but I do remember a very funky time and a heavy hangover. They're back on Anzac day, the 25th, with MODEST MOUSE, none the less. Talk about a concert to lose your voicebox in. At least mine anyway. If Man Man was anything to go to by and considering how much I sing to MM at home.
Anyway. Totally stoked. Can't wait. I anticipate luring in around 8 or 9 friends to come along. They have a week to get into the tunes. Totally achievable.
Well, near me anyway.
This Friday, can't wait. Explosions in the sky two weeks ago, and DMST this week... !
Lip rings and suits don't mix and match too well. But international beer and my circle of friends works a treat. Fucking fabulous time if I do say so myself.
This is just the beginning of the photo's to come, courteously of the awesome Krissi!
On top of the awesome party, my sister gave birth to Sophie on the 29th - what a fantabulous week I've had.
Not long until Saturday arrives. All I can hope is that my newly diagnosed bronchitis to which I've had since Tuesday last week, is gone by then. I'm not coughing a lot but as Sunday proved, if I start drinking beer: the coughing is continuous. Regardless of the fact that I may not be able to drink, I know the others will have a good time, it's shaping up to be a rippa of a night and I have a surprise in stall for all.
I just finished doing a quick clean of the bathroom - the one room that will receive most of the attention not only due to the needs of bladders but also for thirst as the bath tub itself will be acting as the main cooler. Anyone planning to visit for a length greater than 3 minutes will promptly be met with a knock of the door and a switch of a light! First warning!
Below are some of the tracks I've started to put into my party playlist:
